On Friday, the Obama Administration proved that it is no better than the previous administration with regard to protecting the environment from oil spills or moving us away from fueling our society with oil. They gave BP approval to drill four exploratory wells 200 miles off the Louisiana coast. This approval was granted after BP promised to meet “heightened standards” in the wake of the Deep Water Horizon disaster in April 2010.
As is the case with most politicians, what Obama spoke about when he was campaigning for the presidency was only said for the purpose of getting elected. Once elected, politicians go whichever way the wind is blowing. It’s clear that, for the Obama Administration, the wind is blowing in the direction of big oil companies.
